I do think you're correct about the IDS. It's kind of pricey though. I saw it for $1500 on google shopping, but thought it used to be $1000. Have you thought about Auto Enginuity (AE) with the Ford IDS pack? That is the one I plan to get. It's software for a laptop available for around $450 last I checked. It does nearly everything IDS does. Ford ids software has updated to v112. Ford ids v112 can work with ford ids vcm2 and vxdiag vcx nano diagnostic interface.
